The Power of the Powder Room – Be Inspired

A “powder room”, also known as a guest bathroom, or half bath, is a small bathroom that contains only a toilet and a sink. There is no shower or tub. You usually find the powder room on the main floor, near the living or family room. This allows guests bathroom access, without full access to the remainder of your home. Originating sometime before or during the 18th century, its purpose was for people to apply extra powder to their wigs prior to going before a member of a royal court or court of law. Hence the term “powder room”. In modern times, some women still refer to the half bath as the powder room, where they go to “powder their nose”. (I learn something new every day!)
